- Importance of Vastu Shastra for the home
As Vastu enhances positive energies and replaces the negative ones, it is of utmost importance that a house is designed, planned or made keeping the thought of Vastu Shastra as the central idea.
To understand why Vastu Shastra is an inevitable part of the housing plan, certain major points are given below –
- Social Reasons
The first reason as to why Vastu Shastra plays an important role in the interior designing of the house is that it affects the social standing. This includes your family and friends. Vastu Shastra affects the ways your persona is viewed in public and your social standing among your friends and family get affected too. If you reside in a house in which the drawing-room seating is not following the set pattern of Vastu, there exists a potential of social loss as the drawing-room seating is the main seating area of the house.
- Monetary Reasons
While it is understood that your tijori and safe are always built-in the safest part of the house, it is quite possible that either of them can be under harm if not built in accordance with Vastu Shastra. This can turn to be in terms of cases of theft or even through cases of monetary losses and in extreme conditions, bankruptcy.
- Medical Reasons
In a house that not built with reference to Vastu, the residents are also at the risk of medical and health-related issues. This can be in terms of a variety of ailments – at times, life-threatening – as well as untimely death.
- Educational Reasons
How and where do you shift your child’s study table is also a factor to consider when building a home. Vastu can either bring wisdom through the means of placement of the study table or lead to dullness – something no parent would want their child to go through.
- Accommodation of Vastu in your house plan
Building and designing a house or a floor plan for your house while also incorporating Vastu Shastra in it is a mammoth task. But fret not, given below are some significant points to work along with –
- Living room
As the living room is the main seating area for social purposes, including Vastu here is a must. It should be ensured that for Vastu incorporated seating, the furniture should be placed in south and west direction while leaving maximum open space in north and east directions.
- Bedroom
The bedroom under Vastu Shastra serves as the balancing point for the entire house. Hence, to maintain it, the beds should be placed in the south-west corner with your head facing west or north. A mirror should never be installed in front of the bed as doing so is not considered a good omen under Vastu Shastra. Also, the cupboard should be placed next to the beds in the West direction.
- Mandir
Considered the most serene and pure in the house, placement of the mandir should always be in a room or place that is the north-east corner. The second-best options for a mandir in your home are east. North Mandir should always be on the ground floor for a multistoried house.
- Study Room
To warrant that a study room provides you with the utmost attention and focus, it should be built in the west. However, building it in the north-east corner works too. The study table must face either the East or North or North-East direction and furthermore, the bookshelf should never be placed above the study table.
- Kitchen
The Lord of Agni – fire – is supposed to be residing in the south-east direction according to the Vastu Shastra. Hence, the best direction to build a kitchen is this. The second direction for a kitchen is north-west. Another important thing to note for the kitchen is that the cooking range – gas stove and cylinder – and the washbasin should never be on the same platform as Water and Fire are two opposing elements in Vastu Shastra.
- Tijori/Safe
The tijori or the safe in your house must never be near a back door, main door or even the ventilator and definitely not in any of the corners of the house. The safe should be facing, north and must be kept in the south-west – without being backed up against the wall.
Thus, when designing or building the interior of the house, taking into consideration that everything inside the house is completely in compliance with the Vastu Shastra ensures a healthy, happy and auspicious life for you and your family
